Academic Programme

The Department of Animal Production Technology runs a Higher National Diploma (HND). The Programme emphasizes practical (field and laboratory) training in all aspects of Agricultural Extension and Management.

The training is geared towards preparing the students for the future challenges in the agricultural sector and dissemination of new innovation to farmers and general public. The programme is structured to last for two academic sessions or four semesters respectively.

This is followed by one year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Admission Requirements

Candidates for the Higher National Diploma in Agricultural Extension and Management must first satisfy the following requirements to be eligible for admission into the programme.

At least five (5) credit level passes in the West African School Certificate (WASC/GCE O Level), Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or General Certificate (GCE) and/ or National Examination Council Certificate in not more than two (2) sittings.

Subjects passed at credit level must include biology/Agricultural science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English Language.

Candidates must first satisfy the conditions above and must have obtained the National Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Agricultural Engineering Technology and

any agricultural science related courses from accredited programmes of recognized institutions with an evidence of at least one year post National Diploma cognate work experience.
