FCAIB STRENGTHENS ACADEMIC TIES WITH LASUSTECH AS ANIMAL SCIENCE DELEGATION VISITS PROVOST

The Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan (FCAIB), on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, received a delegation of senior academics from the Department of Animal Science, College of Agriculture, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), on a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Provost, Professor Jonathan J. Atungwu. The delegation was led by Professor Agbaje Folorunsho who visited to congratulate Professor Atungwu on his appointment as Provost and to maintain the strong professional relationship between him and his former colleagues at LASUSTECH.

Professor Atungwu warmly received the delegation and expressed his happiness at seeing his former colleagues. He thanked them for the visit and took them on a tour of the FCAIB farm where they had the opportunity to see some of the College’s agricultural activities.

The farm tour gave the delegation a firsthand look at some of FCAIB’s practical agricultural activities and provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of hands-on training in agricultural education.

Speaking during the visit, Professor Folorunsho congratulated Professor Atungwu on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to lead FCAIB effectively. He said Professor Atungwu’s experience and commitment to academic development would be valuable to the continued growth of the College.

He also expressed the hope that the relationship between FCAIB and LASUSTECH would lead to more opportunities for collaboration in research, knowledge sharing, staff development and other areas of mutual interest.

Professor Folorunsho commended Professor Atungwu for his contributions to LASUSTECH during his time at the University and noted that his former colleagues were pleased to see him take up the new responsibility at FCAIB.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Mrs. Sodamola appreciated the delegation for their goodwill and congratulatory message to the Provost. She noted that the visit had further strengthened the relationship between FCAIB and LASUSTECH and expressed hope for greater collaboration between the two institutions.

She thanked the delegation for the visit and wished them a safe journey back to their various destinations.

The delegation included Professor Khadijah Agbalaya, Senior Lecturer; Dr. Origemo Murisku, Associate Professor; and Dr. Osho Yusuf A., Lecturer, alongside other senior academic staff from the Department of Animal Science.

The visit provided an opportunity for the two institutions to strengthen their professional relationship and explore areas of mutual interest. It also highlighted the value of maintaining strong academic networks that can support research, training and knowledge exchange.

For FCAIB, engagements of this nature provide an opportunity to showcase the College’s agricultural activities while building relationships that can contribute to its academic and institutional development.

The visit further reflects FCAIB’s commitment to strengthening partnerships within the agricultural education sector and creating opportunities that will support its mandate in teaching, research and practical agricultural training.
