PROVOST'S CUP 2026: ASAPHT RETAINS TITLE IN THRILLING FINALE

ASAPHT retained the 2026 FCAIB Provost's Cup title with a 1–0 victory over SETSA in a thrilling final at Bora Field. The tournament also showcased indoor and track events, reinforcing the College's commitment to sportsmanship, unity and student development.

The 2026 edition of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB) Provost's Cup ended on Thursday, 23 July 2026, with the School of Agricultural and Applied Plant Health Technology (ASAPHT) successfully defending its title after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over the School of Engineering and Technical Services (SETSA) at the Bora Field, Ibadan.

The football final was officially declared open by the Provost, Prof. Jonathan J. Atungwu, represented by the Director of Audit, Mr. Olufemi O. Karunwi, who charged students to uphold the values of discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship and peaceful coexistence.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Deputy Provost (Academic), Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria O. Okpeze; the Director of Sports, Mrs. Temitayo Terwanger; the Head of Department of Animal Production, Mr. Olufemi Olaoye; Pastor Olufemi Odejide; members of the Sports Committee, Staff and Students.

ASAPHT secured victory through a 21st-minute goal by Mr. Mustapha Kolawole, whose outstanding performance earned him the tournament's Most Valuable Player (MVP), Highest Goal Scorer and Man of the Match awards.

In addition to football, the sports festival featured table tennis, relay races and indoor games including chess, ayo, ludo, whot and checkers, all of which recorded impressive participation.

Speaking on the event, a member of the Sports Committee described the Provost's Cup as a platform for promoting friendship, unity, healthy competition and lasting memories among students.

The successful conclusion of the 2026 Provost's Cup once again underscored FCAIB's commitment to fostering sports development, unity and the holistic growth of its students.
